Paralympics 2012
After a successful delivery service throughout the Olympics we are now ready to welcome the World’s Paralympic athletes to London for the Paralympic Games. You can be confident that UKMail will continue to achieve high service levels throughout the Games and unlike other carriers, UKMail will not be adding any surcharges to your consignment prices during the Paralympics.
The Paralympic Route Network (PRN) is much smaller than the Olympic Route Network and is focused on venues in the east of London. The PRN route in Greater London is 36 miles in length and there are just 8.7 miles of Games lanes on the PRN. See the route.
The focus of the Paralympics will be in the east of London, where the Olympic Park, ExCeL, North Greenwich Arena, Royal Artillery Barracks and Greenwich Park are located. Other venues such as The Mall in Westminster and outside of London venues including Brands Hatch, Weymouth and Portland and Eton Dorney will all take part in the Paralympic Games.
The Games run from Wednesday 29th August to Sunday 9th September and during this period it is likely congestion will occur; however our service will continue, through our fully integrated overnight network, to offer a reliable next day delivery for you and your customers. Premium timed services will still be available across London and take priority, but do not carry a guarantee during the Games. We do not anticipate that customers using UK Mail services to send pre-sorted mail, unsorted mail, imail or packet+ items will experience any delays in collections during the Paralympics. These services use Royal Mail for final mile delivery to recipients and Royal Mail do not expect any delay in delivery, however we advise mail customers read the Olympic Services Update on the Royal Mail website to understand possible delivery service impact.

For the duration of the Olympic & Paralympic Games, Official London 2012 Venues (often referred to as “lockdown venues”) will be subject to additional security and all final mile parcel deliveries to these venues will be made by UPS.
